POINT OF AYR - CARBON CAPTURE SCHEME
The Point of Ayr project is a major
part of the HyNet carbon capture
network. Working with Saipem and
ENI, D Morgan is delivering several
work packages including demoli琀椀on,
civils and piling for the new CO₂
receiving and compression facility
in North Wales.
D Morgan is responsible for the temporary
compound facili琀椀es, site remedia琀椀on,
underground demoli琀椀on and the full civils and
piling works required to prepare the terminal
for construc琀椀on. A signi昀椀cant challenge on the
scheme is the management of contaminated
soils and groundwater, which are treated under
strict regulatory procedures, with all groundwater
processed through GAC 昀椀ltra琀椀on. Demoli琀椀on
materials are reused on site to reduce vehicle
movements, suppor琀椀ng a lower carbon footprint
and helping prepare the site for its future role
within the wider HyNet network. These works
form an essen琀椀al early phase of construc琀椀on
and lay the groundwork for the facility’s transi琀椀on
into full opera琀椀onal delivery.
